USDA Keeps Loan Costs Low in 2018

There’s great news for borrowers who want to take advantage of historically low home loan rates. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will continue its reduced fees from 2017 for home purchase and refinance loans in 2018.The upfront guarantee fee will remain at 1 percent of the total mortgaged amount, and the annual fee will remain at 0.35 percent. This change will stay in effect until September 30, 2018.

The bottom line is these continued low fees will keep USDA loans more affordable for those buying or refinancing through the program.

USDA Rural Development and its loan program strive to help more families achieve the American dream of home ownership by providing qualifying borrowers the opportunity to own a primary residence in eligible rural areas.
